Hypnotherapy can be defined as a brief therapy that is used to create a subconscious change in a particular patient in the form of brand new thoughts, responses, behaviors, feelings and attitudes. It is particularly undertaken with a subject in hypnosis.

A person who gets himself hypnotized always displays various characteristics that are mostly unusual and also propensities. When these are compared with a non- hypnotized subject, most of these are notably heightened responsiveness and suggestibility. Hypnotherapy is commonly used by people who are suffering from anxiety. This practice enables them to get rid of their anxiety or at the least allows them to bring down their anxiety levels.

Anxiety can be experienced at various or different levels. There are many causes of anxiety. The brain chemistry also plays an important role in determining the anxiety level of a particular individual. There can sometimes be a chemical imbalance that can lead to anxiety. Hereditary is also a reason of increased level of anxiety. Anxiety can run a lot in families.

Genetic factors can also cause anxiety and when it runs in a particular family, there are a lot of chances of increased anxiety levels. The personality of a person and the life experiences he has gone through are also responsible for the increase in the levels of anxiety. Anxiety can anyway be treated by various combinations of approaches. These combinations include cognitive behavioral therapy and some common treatments for disorders related to anxiety. Hypnotherapy can be termed as a very effective treatment for various anxiety disorders. It is helpful in seeking out the root cause of anxiety and can also change the perception of an individual.
